About the Practice

Enable || Adapt || Restore

Our services enable individuals to return to meaningful occupation by adapting the environment and restoring function.

FIEUW Occupational Therapy is a practice based in Cape Town. Our goal is to enable individuals to return to work, home and leisure activities following illness, injury and other health conditions.

The practice was founded by Lezanne Fieuw in 2017 and Marleen Joubert joined in 2020. Marleen has taken over the practice since 2023.

At FIEUW Occupational Therapy we offer a wealth of experience in the field of vocational rehabilitation. We have a keen interest in disability assessment and case management and offer services to insurers and employers.

About Marleen Joubert

Marleen Joubert graduated with a B Occ. Degree at Stellenbosch University in 2010. She obtained a post-graduate diploma in Hand Therapy at the University of Pretoria in 2013 and completed her Masters in Occupational Therapy at Stellenbosch University in 2018.

Marleen has treated in- and outpatients in various hospital settings in the Free State and in Gauteng. Whilst working in Gauteng she gained experience treating an array of workplace injuries and she developed an interest in vocational assessment and rehabilitation.

In 2015, Marleen was certified in WorkWell’s Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE), a functional test designed to objectively measure the maximum safe functional abilities of a client in order to describe worker abilities and generate recommendations for return to work. She has been trained to administer the Psychiatric Functional Capacity Evaluator (PFCE), developed by Karen Theunissen. Marleen is also a certified PGAP (Progressive Goal Attainment Program) provider and a Sensory Intelligence® Practitioner.

At the start of 2020, Marleen joined FIEUW Occupational Therapy and has furthered her experience in treating and assessing chronic pain, performing comprehensive driving evaluations, vocational rehabilitation case management, and functional capacity evaluations.

Marleen is a dedicated Occupational Therapist and the following quote summarises her appreciation for the nature of her work in a few words:

“Occupational therapy practitioners ask, “What matters to you?” not, “What’s the matter with you?”  (Virginia “Ginny” Stoffel, PhD, OT, BCMH, FAOTA)

Why so many botanicals?

Drawing inspiration from nature

In Cape Town we are surrounded by the Cape Floral Kingdom, and we draw inspiration from the restorative and regenerative work of nature. Just as fynbos plants have adapted to live in low nutrient soils and deal with wild fires, human beings are also resilient and able to adapt to change.

At FIEUW Occupational Therapy, we endeavour to provide quality services which enable our clients to reach their full potential to enjoy again the fullness of work, home and leisure following a change in health.
